How we started

Welcome to Baja Dog Rescue. I previously was a veterinary technician in the US who spent most of the last 4 years rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats in Mexico. While living in the United States I was a veterinary technician until I had kids and stayed home with them. My husband had warned me that animals were not as well taken care of in Mexico as in the states but I was not prepared to see what was happening there.

Within 5 days we had taken home a pregnant mama dog that had been trying to go inside the laundromat to have her babies. She was indifferent to humans. It was clear that she had not experienced the luxury life that my 14-year-old Aussie mix had been afforded. She had 6 baby puppies on a blanket she had taken to a back corner in the house we were living in and this started the wonderful journey of dog and cat rescue in Baja Mexico.

During our time in Mexico, we would rescue over 20 dogs and 25 cats. Some stayed with us, others went to new homes, and a few we kept comfortable while they finished the suffering that life had given to them. All of them were loved and cared for until we let go of them.
